LOOTB Gives to Hundreds of Kids

LOOTB gives to hundreds of kids in Guatemala. Life Out of the Box.

After settling in to Panajachel, and giving back to the many children that attend the schools provided by Mayan Families, we were dedicated to giving to as many children as possible. We had been working so much that we didn’t have time to truly explore the beautiful area around us, so we decided to spend the weekend walking around the lake to explore the small neighboring villages and give school supplies to the local children along the way. We ran down to the local family owned liberia and filled all of our backpacks with school supplies.

After the large purchase Quinn and I split up from our sisters Caira and KK in hopes to cover as much area as possible. After a few hours of Quinn and I giving out as many school supplies as possible in San Antonio, we jumped on the pick up truck to find our sisters so that we could head back home to Panajachel. As we approached the town center of Santa Catarina, we were stunned to see dozens of children lined up to receive school supplies from our sisters in front of the large church.

We couldn’t believe it. We were so happy and proud to see what was going on–we couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief. As we got closer, we could hear the girls talking to the children to understand who they were and what they wanted to be when they grew up. It was beautiful. They had already given over a hundred school supply packets away and they still had a line. We both jumped right in to help them get the line down & give as quickly as possible before nightfall.

That day we gave away every single school supply away to every single child that requested one. It was a wonderful day. The happy faces of the children are what made the day so spectacular. We want to thank all of our supporters, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping make this wonderful day happen.

  2. What an amazing project guys! Looks like you are doing some great work. I have not cash to donate at the moment as I am an extremely poor backpacker but would love to be involved in the future. Keep up the good work!!
