Quinn & Jonathon on House Hunters International

Here are some behind the scenes photos of when we filmed the beginning of our story on HGTV’s House Hunters International in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The show tells our story of when we first moved to the little Nicaraguan beach town from California to start Life Out of the Box. We had such a blast filming around town with the best crew & our local friends, we couldn’t have asked for. Hope you enjoy this inside scoop and tune into watch the episode on March 8th! Thank you for sharing, watched the show and loved your positive energy and mission. We can change the world, and you two are living proof, and further when someone says our youth are letting us down, one only need look at what you two are doing! Blessings for the journey.

You know, I was going to make my usual smart ass remarks about Martin sending you to Hawaii for 10 years so you can make bracelets.  The problem is that I’m so envyous that I can’t stand it.

You two are doing what all of us wanted to do back in the olden days.  I’m really proud of you both.  Hope to see you maybe Xmas?  Keep up the good work and the good life.

I saw the show and was very excited because about 2 weeks ago I decided I was *not* going to retire to Ecuador, but probably to Nicaragua (I have to get there first, so I can’t be sure)! I suspect I may start out in Granada because I think I can live a little less expensively there, but once I have something up-and-running that I can work at from anywhere I will most likely head to San Juan del Sur, because I’ve always dreamed of retiring to the beach! So it was good to see you looking at places to live, and the relative prices there. Do you think there is something a senior could do there that would be useful? My fields of birth psychology and infant/child mental health might not be particularly useful there, I’m thinking, but I would love to have an idea or two of what I might be able to do to make a small, non-patronizing, difference. Congratulations on successfully getting yourselves up and running there–you inspired me!

I just found your blog when I was doing a search for HHI. The film crew just left our house on Ometepe Island, two weeks ago. We had a fantastic time filming. The crew was awesome. We must have had a different crew though, because no one looks familiar to me. How long did it take after the filming before it aired? Can I see your episode online? I want to write a blog post about our experience, so your post was interesting. I’d definitely do it again!
