LOOTB + Carmel Art & Film Festival

One of the first things we did when we got back to the states was partner with the Carmel Art & Film Festival to promote our brand of Life Out of the Box. The Carmel Art & Film Festival is a wonderful film festival in Quinn’s home town of Carmel, CA that started about 5 years ago. Since it started, it has become one of the prominent festivals for film makers and artists from all over the world to showcase their latest pieces of artwork to the public.

We constantly refer to the LOOTB bracelets as pieces of art because each one really is a unique art piece handmade by Central American artisans. It was a great place to showcase these works of art, along with our own story of creating Life Out of the Box, traveling and helping kids around the world. Both LOOTB and the Carmel Art & Film both believe in education and promoting art for younger generations so it was a perfect fit to work together towards giving as many school supplies to children as possible.

We set up a booth at the event where we were able to share our story of creating the social venture while showing visitors the different products that we worked with the Central American artisans to create. It was such an amazing experience. We were in the central park of downtown Carmel as everything was going on around us. Hundreds of people stopped by, some to just chat and learn, others to buy and become new supporters.

We had new supporters of all ages who felt truly connected to what we were trying to do. We even met a few people who recognized us from our episode of House Hunters International on TV and were absolutely shocked to meet us in person. Each time it happened, it came as a shock to us all and made us laugh.

On the final day, the local news came over and did a special report on us, our story and how we were connected to the Carmel Art & Film Festival. It was a perfect way to end the amazing weekend.

Overall the whole event was a massive success. It meant so much to Quinn and I to be able to see our supporters (old and new) react to what we had created and accomplished so far. The feedback we received from everyone from film makers, to artists and Carmel locals reassured us both that we were doing something much bigger than us. We couldn’t wait to see what was next for LOOTB.

Love the Blue Dog CAFF poster – sadly artist George Rodrigue passed away about 10 days ago. Thanks for sharing your sunny photos and Happy New Year from chilly grey Toronto.
